Trump's endorsed candidate, Mike Carey (R), showing some very early strength in Franklin & Pickaway counties. Still a long way to go in #OH15. — PolitiTweet.org

With very early returns in Franklin Co., it's clear state Rep. Allison Russo (D) has won the Dem primary in #OH15. It's an uphill battle for her in a Trump +14 district, but if she outperforms Biden at all, it would be a decent sign for Dems midway to the midterms. — PolitiTweet.org

And, if Shontel Brown (D) edges past Nina Turner (D) in #OH11, it'll be a sign Dems' establishment has found its groove vs. the party's progressive wing in the Biden era. — PolitiTweet.org

Polls closing soon in #OH11 and #OH15. If Mike Carey (R) doesn't win #OH15's GOP primary, it would be a second big embarrassment in a row for Trump. — PolitiTweet.org

One thing Trump's endorsement isn't doing so far in 2021: helping his chosen candidates raise money. Between Susan Wright (R) in #TX06 and Mike Carey (R) in #OH15, his candidates are getting significantly outspent. — PolitiTweet.org

Amy is so deserving of this role, and I'm proud to work for a true rarity in punditry: a female-dominated election analysis enterprise. And don't worry, the legendary @CharlieCookDC will still be contributing to us, @nationaljournal, and sharing his wisdom w/ audiences all over. — PolitiTweet.org

I've been lucky to live out my dream career. @LarrySabato gave me my start at UVA's Center for Politics. @CharlieCookDC took a chance on me when I cold-emailed about an internship in 2005. Even after 14 years at @CookPolitical, it's surreal to call Amy & Charlie colleagues. — PolitiTweet.org

How big are the potential swings here? Rep. Rodney Davis (R)'s downstate #IL13 would go from Trump +3 to Biden +18. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D)'s #IL14 would go from Biden +2 to Biden +14. Another example of why redistricting is pretty much the ballgame for House control. — PolitiTweet.org

ICYMI, here's the hypothetical 14D-3R gerrymander of Illinois that eliminates Kinzinger's current district. 14/17 seats would be Biden +14 or more - except #IL17, which would zoom from Trump +1.6 to Biden +6.2. https://t.co/SCi0vPFCjy — PolitiTweet.org

And, the strong likelihood Kinzinger would lose a primary to a pro-Trump candidate is actually a strong *incentive* for IL Dems to eliminate #IL16. — PolitiTweet.org

Inbox: Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R) endorses primary challenger to Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R) - whose district is probably going to be eliminated by IL Dems in redistricting anyway. — PolitiTweet.org

To me, it suggests thousands of Dems *did* vote and were potentially decisive in this ultra-low turnout special. It's a blueprint anti-Trump Rs in top-two primary states could use in 2022, but that's a pretty small universe of races. — PolitiTweet.org

In #TX06, the margin between Wright (R) and Ellzey (R) swung 12 pts towards Ellzey between the 5/1 jungle primary and the 7/27 runoff. In red Ellis/Navarro counties, it swung 7 pts towards Ellzey. But in much bluer Tarrant county, it swung 14 pts towards Ellzey - about double. — PolitiTweet.org

@baseballot Couldn’t that be a biased metric bc Ellzey’s base is Ellis while Wright’s is Tarrant? I’d love to see the shift in Wright vs. Ellzey margin between 5/1 and 7/27 plotted against precinct partisanship — PolitiTweet.org

Before drawing sweeping conclusions about the outcome, a reminder: turnout in this runoff was fairly pathetic. With all early votes and most EDay votes reported, there are only 37k votes counted - less than 8% of registered voters in #TX06 and less than half of 5/1 votes cast. — PolitiTweet.org

Wow. Ellzey (R) winning the Election Day vote over Trump-endorsed Wright (R) so far as well. Now 54%-46% Ellzey overall. Going to be tough for Wright for overcome w/ what's left... #TX06 — PolitiTweet.org
