@GenericName2022 OPEC has the capacity to make up 100% of the lost U.S. exports, so that would likely discourage upstream domestic production, and we’d be taking supply out of the global trade which would drive prices higher. — PolitiTweet.org
Brian Schatz @brianschatz
@GenericName2022 We are, but that wouldn’t help. Our refineries are mostly older and configured to process heavier crude, from Canada for instance. If we banned exports then there would just be a glut of the light sweet oil that we produce from shale. We’d hand more market power to OPEC. — PolitiTweet.org
Brian Schatz @brianschatz
There is no drilling fast enough to drive oil prices down soon. We should find more supply, but 1) this takes time 2) any new domestic production would likely be exported 3) clean energy will make it so we aren’t vulnerable to these autocrats anymore 4) the planet is on fire — PolitiTweet.org

If you are a reporter and there is a battle for the free world led by Zelenksyy and Biden you don’t have to pretend not to remember that Republicans exonerated Trump for extorting Zelenskyy. The bias towards “balance” and “newness” is causing us to miss this important context. — PolitiTweet.org

I’m still not convinced people remember that the first impeachment was about Trump withholding javelins and other weapons from President Zelensky unless he did a phony investigation into President Biden’s son, and that every Republican except for Mitt voted to exonerate Trump . — PolitiTweet.org
