@GenericName2022 We are, but that wouldn’t help. Our refineries are mostly older and configured to process heavier crude, from Canada for instance. If we banned exports then there would just be a glut of the light sweet oil that we produce from shale. We’d hand more market power to OPEC. — PolitiTweet.org

@GenericName2022 OPEC has the capacity to make up 100% of the lost U.S. exports, so that would likely discourage upstream domestic production, and we’d be taking supply out of the global trade which would drive prices higher. — PolitiTweet.org
