@DDERSS I’ve used Apple Music extensively (and did throughout this review). I prefer Spotify’s playlists and recommendations. — PolitiTweet.org

@DDERSS it sounds better than the Echo Dot or the Nest mini, but not the larger Echo or the Nest Audio, which are the same price as the HomePod mini. that’s what i state in the review. that’s my opinion based on testing them for two weeks and doing a lot of side-by-side comparisons. — PolitiTweet.org

@ListeningTalker also if you see the HomePod on sale for $200, i’d grab it, hasn’t gone down to that price in quite some time. — PolitiTweet.org

@geclauser i disagree, it’s so prevalent that it makes it harder to find things that are actually leather. go look for “leather phone case” on Amazon and you can’t easily find an actual leather one. — PolitiTweet.org

@akaback i haven’t because i know what “vegan leather” means. I also know the difference in grading between genuine leather, top grain leather, and full grain leather. and i know what bonded leather is. do most people? hard to believe they do. — PolitiTweet.org

@mslopatto remember “pleather”? — PolitiTweet.org

dan seifert @dcseifert

@mslopatto i can understand that for milk, but calling polyurethane “vegan leather” misleads the buyer into thinking it’s as durable or pliable as leather, which it isn’t. there’s a reason they aren’t calling it polyurethane! — PolitiTweet.org

i completely understand why someone doesn’t want a product made from animal products, that’s totally fine and a choice! but call it what it is, by calling it “leather” you are implying it has the qualities of leather, which it doesn’t. — PolitiTweet.org

dumb hill for me to die on today: “vegan leather” is not leather and calling it leather is using deceptive advertising. i don’t have a problem with it as a product (other than it’s not as durable or nice as leather), but calling it “leather" is just misleading. — PolitiTweet.org

@bmarshall3 @backlon those Vizio Atmos bars are impressive, esp for the price, and you can’t beat a dedicated subwoofer for the low-end. — PolitiTweet.org

@bmarshall3 @backlon i haven’t been able to test that with the HomePods yet, but i have tested the very similar setup with Amazon’s Echo Studio and a FireTV and I’d just go with an Atmos soundbar. it will work with any device hooked up to your TV, game consoles, etc. instead of just the AppleTV — PolitiTweet.org

what this shows is that Apple has definitely learned from the original HomePod mess and appears to be listening to feedback for what people want from these devices. but it still has a ways to go, I'm hopeful the mini continues to get better over time. — PolitiTweet.org

the mini sounds good for a *small speaker*. but it gets mopped by the new Echo and also beat by the Nest Audio, both of which cost the same as the mini. Siri has gotten better, but it's still behind the other assistants. i also struggled with weird bugs throughout my testing — PolitiTweet.org

here's my review of the HomePod mini, which is great for anyone fully bought into the Apple world (you prolly don't need me to convince you) but if you use anything outside of Apple's garden, there are better smart speaker options at this price: https://t.co/buiIKUs8az — PolitiTweet.org

@nathanminer78 yeah i've just collected them over the years, buying when on discount, etc. just got a last gen color light strip for half price last week. (half price is still kinda pricey for what it is) — PolitiTweet.org

@Kellan_Stevens IMO HomeKit without a hub isn't a great experience. ok for maybe a couple of devices, but i wouldn't build out a full smarthome that way. — PolitiTweet.org

@Kellan_Stevens i am not sure, but if you want to be able to control anything from outside of the home you'd need a HomeKit hub running anyways. it definitely requires Hue's HomeKit compatible hub. — PolitiTweet.org

@Kellan_Stevens not saying that there's a huge scientifically proven benefit here, but i manually set the lights to cooler temps in the morning and warmer temps in the evening and I've found that to be more pleasant than when they are warm all day — PolitiTweet.org

@nathanminer78 yeah Hue is def pricey, but in my experience they've been the most reliable and have the widest compatibility with smart home platforms. Hue also has the widest variety of types of bulbs etc, so you can get floods, candles, light strips, etc. — PolitiTweet.org
