So yeah, I guess you could say I found a lot to love in this week's episode. I hope the rest of the season can balance developing these character threads with driving the action forward at a brisk pace. But at this point, I trust Tony Gilroy. — PolitiTweet.org

When Dedra's aide says not to trust any records from Hosnian Prime b/c the Empire is its only customer "and they’d never admit anything’s wrong," it's a nice little nod at the complexities of the Imperial war machine and the unintended risks of monopolizing a planet's economy. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
There's also a warm collegiality between Dedra and her aide that we rarely see in the Empire. The whole "go home"/"I'll leave when you do" bit was like a Leo/Josh scene out of The West Wing. An ISB officer whose assistant has to remind her to trust her instincts...great stuff. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
I loved the scene of Dedra and her assistant trying to solve the puzzle of rebel heists. We don’t want to see the bad guys win, but it *is* cool to see Imperials competently working a problem for once. — PolitiTweet.org

You can feel the tension between Karn and his mom, the perhaps-unbridgeable gap. He knows he needs her, but he doesn't know how to admit it. She's blunt with him, but she's just trying to help. She won't soft-pedal things. What a delight to see this dynamic explored in SW. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
Karn might be the most realistic character right now: A once-haughty man laid low by an epic screwup, forced to return to a life he thought he'd outgrown. Every detail of how his mom treats him, from the admonishments to pushing the fruit toward him, is so cleverly crafted. — PolitiTweet.org

Skeen basically tells Cassian: I’ve mistrusted and mistreated you b/c this fight is too important for you to interfere with it. This is all-consuming for me. Skeen's story is realistic and relatable, and his inner trauma and his externalization of it are so well-written. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
Skeen telling Cassian about *his* rebellion is such a beautifully written & acted scene. Humanizes a man who has so far been the most unpleasant member of Vel's group. “I don’t really know what to call how I feel now.” The heat of hate has burned off, replaced by cold numbness. — PolitiTweet.org

I wish we’d seen Perrin's dinner w/ Ars Dangor & Sly Moore, but regardless, I love the scene in their speeder where you can feel how strained their marriage is. They have no common ground. She keeps him in the dark, he disdains her work. It's heartbreaking but brilliantly done. — PolitiTweet.org

Mon Mothma's story continues to be just devastating — and impressively written and acted. Her own daughter disrespects her, her husband encourages the girl's cruelty, and they both dismiss Mon's pain. Family is supposed to offer solace, but Mon is even isolated here. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
Later, when Cassian reveals that he knows whether everyone in the group is left- or right-handed and gives them tactical advice, it’s this great moment of them realizing that he (a) is smarter than they thought and (b) has been watching them more closely than they realized. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
When it becomes clear that Vel's group needs Cassian's help with a key part of their plan, he seizes the opportunity to claim some power and demands to pilot their escape ship. For the first time, he asserts himself and puts the group on the backfoot. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
When Taramyn tells Cassian that they'll "make a soldier out of you yet," Diego Luna does this great bit of facial acting that (1) reminds you that he's already lived that life and (2) makes it clear how he thinks back on that life now. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
Cassian has a number of great moments, as we get a better sense of what he's been through. Telling Taramyn not to touch him — you can tell he's been manhandled enough in his life. Erupting at Skeen for moving his stuff — as a refugee, his few belongings are now precious to him. — PolitiTweet.org

But Nemik's approach to resistance isn't the only way, and Vel nods at this when she says that "everyone has their own rebellion." That's a vital insight. People who share the same enemy may have different motivations. Love how much time we get to spend dwelling on this stuff. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
When the TIE fighter buzzes the group, it makes Imperial arrogance and oppression this visceral thing. Nemik's response (“Surprise from above is never as shocking as one from below") shows us how an onslaught of tiny indignities can push people past the brink. — PolitiTweet.org
Eric Geller @ericgeller
Nemik's speech about fascism was great. I love how Tony Gilroy is embracing parallels between Imperial and real-world oppression. "So much going wrong, so much to say, and all of it happening so quickly." Skeen dismisses Nemik's proselytizing, but it's vital to the Rebellion. — PolitiTweet.org

A slower #Andor episode this week packed in a ton of great character development and political philosophy. We got to explore our main characters' inner turmoil, see how their struggles shape their places in the conflict, and wrestle with big political questions. — PolitiTweet.org
