@GlenTheLucario I don't know the details of what Cellebrite is selling, but I believe this is something that Signal can't fix. I think they're likely rooting the OS and accessing the data directly, bypassing the backup API. This is something Apple/Google would need to fix to secure their phones — PolitiTweet.org

@GlenTheLucario Not even backups, just the text messages inside the app. When police seize an iPhone, forensic tools let them extract data from all the apps, but historically it hasn't worked with Signal (in iOS) because they implement the backup API in such a way to make it hard — PolitiTweet.org
