But I think just saying “it’s fear” actually plays into a Republican talking point. One side almost entirely has a problem with the 2001 and 2002 AUMFs. One side largely doesn’t. — PolitiTweet.org

@sahilkapur I honestly think it’s more about the disagreements. There’s a healthy number of Republicans totally fine with a broad AUMF. @OKnox @sahilkapur Alright but the House actually did repeal the 2001 AUMF in June. (It was in the original NDAA, to be repealed eight months after enactment). The GOP Senate pulled it.
