Looks like there's a lag here (in Louisiana, which is doing a better job of providing data than a lot of states) of about 3 days between when a death occurs and when it gets recorded in the data. — PolitiTweet.org

Of course, there's also increasing evidence that many deaths, especially outside of a hospital setting, were missed the first time around. If states and countries make efforts to revisit those as some (e.g. France) are doing, there can be longer lags in when deaths are reported. — PolitiTweet.org
