@jbarro It is true that ten straight years of rising crime in DC (from a much higher level than NYC) have not been a big deal in either the 2022 or 2018 mayoral elections — the fundamentals are a necessary but I think not sufficient condition for it becoming a high-salience issue. — PolitiTweet.org
