My suspicion is that some reformers may want this outcome — make it so burdensome to bring misdemeanor cases that police & prosecutors don’t want to bother thus de facto decriminalizing a bunch of conduct. I would suggest not doing this. — PolitiTweet.org

I don’t have any particular opinion on jury vs bench trials per se, but making this change is going to require a lot more resources (including people doing jury duty more frequently) unless you want to crush the court system. — PolitiTweet.org
