@eddlest @M_C_Klein I think if you looked at it in 1962 it was plausible that the Soviets were ahead of us on the technological frontier (Sputnik!) and US living standards were just higher for historical reasons, with the gap closing rapidly thanks to Soviet capital ccumulation. — PolitiTweet.org
