Property Tax Reform Step 1 delivered by the Texas Senate today. They passed limits on the ability of taxing authorities to raise your taxes without your vote of approval. Now on to appraisal reform & lowering current tax rates. #txlege #TxSen https://t.co/9tz8p9Mhet — PolitiTweet.org

Commentary: Judicial selection reforms are long overdue in Texas. Every living current or former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court supports this reform. The only constituency of judges is the rule of law. https://t.co/TMEihMKIl9 — PolitiTweet.org

We raised the homestead exemption 2 sessions ago & no one feels the benefit of that tax relief because it was eroded by rising appraisals & rates. Raising the homestead exemption won’t lead to lasting property tax relief. We must reform appraisals & lower tax rates. #txlege — PolitiTweet.org

If you agree that skyrocketing property taxes must be fixed please tweet or call your legislator & demand they vote this week to support the property tax reform bills in the House & Senate. #txlege #TaxDay https://t.co/DV6KNX8Lyi — PolitiTweet.org

Thanks for taking the bait. TX provides for the hungry & needy through TANF & other programs. You proved my point. You & others reveal that STEALING is ok when people want things: cell phone, tire, lawn mower, almost any item you see in a store or in the open. That's socialism. — PolitiTweet.org

Property tax itself is unfair. Any amount. What it boils down to is, the government owns it , not you. Period!!!!! There, William, I tweeted it. Because it's true. That's why I'm trying to shift from a property tax system to a consumption tax system so you control what you pay. — PolitiTweet.org

Dallas Co. District Attorney stokes crime by refusing to prosecute theft of personal items worth less than $750. If someone is hungry they can just steal some food. If cold, steal a coat. Where does it end? It's wealth redistribution by theft. #txlege https://t.co/dqfYogr4NX — PolitiTweet.org

This helps explain how the Texas property tax system is unfair to us all and must be reformed. We want to reform appraisals, limit how much taxing authorities can raise property tax rates, and reduce your property tax rate. Call your legislator tomorrow for property tax reform. — PolitiTweet.org

The money used to reduce property taxes is used to buy down/reduce your property tax rate. There are many appraisal reforms under consideration. My favorites: limits on how much appraisals can increase & forcing appraisers to be elected every 2 years so you can fire them. — PolitiTweet.org

If you rent an apartment or a house part of that cost is property taxes. Wherever you buy anything (groceries, clothes, etc) the stores pay rent that typically includes property taxes. Those prices are often passed on to you. No one escapes the claws of property taxes. — PolitiTweet.org

If my property tax reform passes it will reduce your M&O tax rate by 16% in the first year & decrease it an additional 1-2% every year after that. It can only happen if taxing authorities are prevented from jacking your rates back up. — PolitiTweet.org

We can use current revenue to buy down your property tax rate several % points. IF the choice is to increase sales tax a penny, it would be dedicated to reducing property taxes. One penny would allow us to reduce property tax M&O rates by 16%. It would be voted on by taxpayers. — PolitiTweet.org

The full plan is 3 parts. 1. Appraisal reform to address the skyrocketing appraisals. 2. Use billions of dollars to reduce your property tax rate. 3. Keep the rate down by limiting the amount that taxing authorities can raise your property rates. — PolitiTweet.org
