@jppullen technically it’s two displays, but the Air considers its built in display one of those, even if it’s closed in clamshell mode. therefore, support is limited to one external monitor. the Mac Mini doesn’t have an internal display, so you can output to two monitors — PolitiTweet.org

@oliverames Work mode kicks in from 8am to 6pm, gives me a specific homescreen and wallpaper on my phone, puts a info dense watchface on the watch. notifications limited to messages from spouse and coworkers, non-work app notifications blocked. — PolitiTweet.org

@RyneHager oh yeah, it’s a huge bear to set up. very out of character. similar to Shortcuts in a way. but also like Shortcuts, surprisingly powerful if you put in the effort. the blocklist change just made it so people don’t accidentally block all the important notifications they need — PolitiTweet.org
dan seifert @dcseifert
there are a lot of Shortcut Sickos out there but i’m a Focus Mode Sicko in that i probably use them more than anyone else i know i have 7 different modes set up that auto change based on various parameters and now with iOS 16/watchOS 9 they also change my wallpaper and watchface — PolitiTweet.org
dan seifert @dcseifert
now that focus modes work via blocklists instead of just allowlists, there should be a button here to “block during this focus mode” otherwise i have to dive deep into settings and add it manually to the blocklist for each focus mode i use https://t.co/2jWx1zaz9F — PolitiTweet.org

@dmoren it takes up too much space on a laptop’s screen and then doesn’t effectively use the real estate on a desktop monitor. it’s a loss for me in both scenarios — PolitiTweet.org

i keep trying to make Stage Manager work on the Mac and I just can’t. this is the worst window management system on the platform by far. back to using multiple Spaces I go — PolitiTweet.org

@avirani @verge @mcsquared96 in development work, more RAM helps you run more virtual machines for testing and different environments, but it has a much smaller impact on compile times than raw CPU performance (from my understanding, not being a developer) — PolitiTweet.org
dan seifert @dcseifert
@avirani @verge @mcsquared96 i don’t think 16GB would make much of a difference in this particular benchmark, the 13” M2 MacBook Pro had that much and was only a couple seconds faster. more processor cores is what would provide noticeably faster performance. — PolitiTweet.org
dan seifert @dcseifert
@avirani @verge @mcsquared96 has been including it on the more recent MacBook reviews. it didn’t fit in this chart (you can see it in her M2 MBP review), but a 14” M1 Pro model does that benchmark in under 100 seconds. — PolitiTweet.org

@Thoughtlesskyle ha i control my thermostat from my laptop all the time, but mine works in HomeKit. you should be able to control your Nest from the Nest website though, unless they took that away and I didn’t notice. — PolitiTweet.org

a big part of this is that the iOS apps I’d want to run on my Mac just aren’t made available to install on the Mac in the App Store by their developers, probably because it’s a lousy experience. — PolitiTweet.org
dan seifert @dcseifert
thinking back to when we were reviewing the first M1 MacBook Air and how much of the conversation was around running iOS apps on the Mac. and in the two years since i’ve run precisely zero iOS apps on my M1 Air or M1 Pro MBP. do you run iOS apps on your Arm Mac? — PolitiTweet.org
