@LanceUlanoff @stevesi IMO, the closest precursor to the iPhone was the Treo, not the BB, or Windows Mobile. It wasn’t designed to mimic a PC or pager, it was aimed at users, not IT departments (except for the later Windows CE version) and it had a third party app platform. @stevesi As someone else noted, Windows Phone wasn’t in the market before iPhone. It launched three years later. Microsoft did have a phone before the iPhone, but it was Windows Mobile, the (IMO) truly terrible system based on Windows CE & Pocket PC. — PolitiTweet.org
