@ElectroTuned @TwitterSupport I don’t see the hoax-filled Trending column bolted to the right side of the main screen. — PolitiTweet.org

Great example of how new iPad @Twitter UI helps spread hoaxes by making the trending feed a permanent part of the app’s main screen. — PolitiTweet.org

@waltmossberg Case in point, this hoax hashtag has been trending top three all evening here. https://t.co/nijleWHd5f

If you’re like me and never use Trends, their new permanent home is obnoxious. But it’s worse than that. It will actively aid the spread of viral falsehoods by giving them prime space even on the screens of people who might not otherwise see them. — PolitiTweet.org

Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
@CleatusFetus @TwitterSupport Can’t swipe from the left to go back any more. Also focus is now split. But trends fees being permanent is worse. — PolitiTweet.org

@mkbentley1 @tweetbot I have, but I don’t trust that @Twitter will fully support third party apps. — PolitiTweet.org

@cflem @TwitterSupport Uh, nope, if you read the comments. And, beyond that, the principle is that the user should have options when big changes like this are made. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
The Twitter app on my iPad has suddenly acquired a new UI I dislike with controls on the left instead of the bottom and a trending feed at the right. I don’t mind them experimenting, but the user should be able to toggle these choices. I can’t find how. @TwitterSupport https://t.co/2q3Is7X51x — PolitiTweet.org

@JoannaStern Typical @Twitter precision and clarity. — PolitiTweet.org

@stevesi Thanks for this. It’s fascinating to read an early contemporaneous on-site description of such a foundational company. Including the archaic phrase “the fellows”, which I doubt either Steve ever used. — PolitiTweet.org

Since this is a week both for singing and for a new Star Wars film, I thought I’d share this entertaining musical clip from 2015: https://t.co/VaIfEnFPeq via @YouTube — PolitiTweet.org

@birbigs And if there was a good alternative that fixed FB’s flaws. That’s one reason I wasn’t trying to lead a boycott when I quit. I just could no longer square my own ethics and values with Facebook’s policies and actions. — PolitiTweet.org

@nwjerseyliz I disagree. There had been plenty of sci-fi movies and books and tv shows and comics by the late 1970’s. But nothing that looked or felt like Star Wars. — PolitiTweet.org

For those who don’t know, the first Star Wars movie had no episode number or chapter title at the time of its first run. — PolitiTweet.org

In 1977, I saw a movie simply called “Star Wars” at a small movie theater in Northwest D.C. for about $2.50 a ticket. I was blown away. Today, 42 years later, I saw the final film of the saga at a huge theater in the burbs for $15 a ticket. I enjoyed it. But it didn’t compare. https://t.co/mN5ObuSgxZ — PolitiTweet.org
