@moc_cardoza That was roughly 20 years later, and after a bitter lawsuit. — PolitiTweet.org

@agou1 @Twitamtrak @peterchane @Microsoft There were several of these memory cards. Didn’t know Microsoft made one. With most, you had to buy the memory chips separately and plug them into the card. (In those days, these were individual chips.) I always had to buy one extra chip because I’d bend a pin. — PolitiTweet.org

This is maddening: “Wharf fish markets (in DC) packed on a Saturday, social distancing not being practiced.” Of course people need food, but there’s a way to do it that doesn’t endanger everybody. https://t.co/JqhizxTpr5 — PolitiTweet.org

@DVEllice @Microsoft No. Sorry. I do remember it, but never loved it. — PolitiTweet.org

@PaulSGundlach I don’t know about that. But I do know that the only prototype Mac outside of Apple’s offices was at Microsoft, under extreme security. — PolitiTweet.org

By the way, this hardware card is another example among many from the 1980’s of the close working relationship between Microsoft and Apple. Microsoft did the advanced BASIC that shipped with the later Apple IIs and all the key third party software for the Mac. — PolitiTweet.org

@thegreatgadsby @PaulOPinion @JoannaStern I had the 16K expansion module too. It cost an extra $99. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
@Twitamtrak @peterchane @Microsoft No. VisiCalc ran natively on the Apple II, I believe. No card with added processor needed. In fact, because VisiCalc was first made for the Apple II, it was a big factor in Apple’s early success. — PolitiTweet.org

The first @Microsoft product I ever bought wasn’t software. It was a hardware card they made for the Apple II that allowed the computer to run the CP/M operating system and its apps. It was called the SoftCard. https://t.co/b9wdyNFhs7 — PolitiTweet.org

@PaulOPinion @JoannaStern Mine was a Timex Sinclair 1000 in 1982. It had 1K of RAM. Cost $99. Used cassette tapes for storage and a B&W TV for a display. It had a membrane keyboard with BASIC commands printed on the keys. https://t.co/ICEwUiE1H4 — PolitiTweet.org

@BrianRoemmele @JoannaStern Thanks! People actually did like my early, crude webcam videos. They got a lot of traffic for the times. Just like I imagine cave paintings did. — PolitiTweet.org

The original genius of @Microsoft was the very notion of a wide-ranging PC software company that didn’t make computers but made software for lots of different hardware. Examples: the upgraded BASIC on the Apple II & of course the OS on the IBM PC. Happy Birthday! — PolitiTweet.org

Who wants a slice of cake? 🎂 On this day in 1975, Microsoft was born. https://t.co/54dXcp1GOY

@JoannaStern I used a crappy webcam to do my weekly tech review videos back in the day. They look like cave paintings. — PolitiTweet.org

@raju @GettyMuseum This particular one visible in your tweet, The Arnolfini Wedding (1434) by Jan Van Eyck, is my favorite painting. I visit it in London on every trip there. But all the others are great too. Terrific idea. — PolitiTweet.org

@stevesi Whatever the flaws, if there's a template or code or even complete software, it should be immediately made free and public to every county in the country, not just the homes of Amazon, Microsoft, Apple and Google. — PolitiTweet.org
