@wayner99 If they’d known about these religions, it seems like it wouldn’t have mattered. Read this excerpt from Rhode Island’s 1663 colonial charter, which became the state’s original constitution. https://t.co/UBWmjmu8ot — PolitiTweet.org

@wayner99 I won’t comment on your religious analysis, but Baptists were banned by the Puritans. — PolitiTweet.org

@tompetz I get it. But some other states with GOP legislatures and/or governors start counting mail ballots much earlier. — PolitiTweet.org

See below. Because of this, Williams founded the first colony with true religious freedom. It was the opposite in that regard of Puritan Massachusetts. It’s why R.I. still contains the country’s oldest synagogue building and oldest Baptist congregation. https://t.co/NBjXEYMlhy — PolitiTweet.org

@tompetz PA is a disgrace on this issue. It doesn’t start counting mail votes till 7 am on Election Day - just like in the old days, when mail ballots were an afterthought. Many other states changed the rules for 2020, knowing how huge the mail ballot volume would be. Not Pennsylvania. — PolitiTweet.org

When does your state start counting mail ballots this year? Here’s a table that tells you. https://t.co/9HwCXllsL8 — PolitiTweet.org

@darrendotcom Security online is not good enough. Even in 2020. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
@darrendotcom However, the state urges people to avoid this online option, because the ballots it produces can’t be counted by the readers the state uses. So it takes extra time for a bi-partisan pair of judges to copy your choices onto a regular ballot. This can be fixed for the future. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
@darrendotcom Maryland has an option where you can print the ballot at home, and then either fill it out by hand, or let the software fill in the bubbles you choose. All that’s missing is the final step where you click to actually vote. You still must physically deliver it, for security. — PolitiTweet.org

@michelemclellan Thanks. IMO, for future elections, we need a law requiring processing and counting of mail ballots as they arrive, beginning at least 30 days (or more) before Election Day. — PolitiTweet.org

@BlairReeves Not necessarily. Pennsylvania and Wisconsin apparently wait till Election Day. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
In order to avoid a false claim of victory on Nov. 3, it’s crucial that states start counting mail ballots well before Election Day. I’m pleased to learn that Maryland began counting mail ballots on October 1, supposedly the earliest in the nation. https://t.co/6Hit9Rusfe — PolitiTweet.org

@dfallman Long before Trump was a candidate, the “debate” format was criticized for not being a real debate. — PolitiTweet.org

@wrash Um, not me. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
@dfallman Sorry, I profoundly disagree. Debates have been successful for hundreds of years. But these aren’t real debates. They’re just parallel stump speeches. At best, parallel press conferences if the moderator has any control, which he/she has lost. — PolitiTweet.org
Walt Mossberg @waltmossberg
Good. These “debates” so far have added little or nothing to our knowledge of the candidates. The whole format needs rethinking. — PolitiTweet.org

@brooklyndan @AP Those examples are great tales of normal years. But they’re irrelevant when 80 million mail ballots, many unprocessed, are involved. And one candidate has already declared them fraudulent. — PolitiTweet.org
