States should require masks but I don't understand these interstate quarantine rules NY, which accounts for 25% of all US fatalities, requires DE visitors to quarantine, yet NY continues to have daily fatalities as a % of population higher than DE & DE has no real case spike — PolitiTweet.org

@NobleCrap @B2Kryptic The FDA will have to approve a covid vaccine as will the FDA equivalent in dozens of countries around the world. Rejecting the covid vaccine because the Trump administration approved it is really not a good idea. — PolitiTweet.org

Covid & the traditional flu converging together this winter in dangerous Only 1/2 the country gets the flu shot a year, which is ridiculous considering the flu kills upwards of 60k Americans a year Everyone should get the flu shot to minimize the flu & reduce combined risk — PolitiTweet.org

Two additional Coronavirus Vaccines are fast tracked by FDA. Good news. The speed by which these vaccines are being developed and tested is extraordinary. https://t.co/BucsYZYNBA — PolitiTweet.org

The negative impact the economic fallout from Covid will have on children around the world is stunning: 90-117 million additional children are going into poverty 10 million children may never go back to school We need a global education response. https://t.co/q9KZbPKXOe — PolitiTweet.org

@Scribb31 My perspective is we need to track ICU beds not cases In April NY was testing 20k a day a getting 10k positives. I suspect if NY could have tested 100k people a day they would have had more than the 15k positives that FL had yesterday Cases correlate w/ testing — PolitiTweet.org

@lovelylorilips I'm not criticizing NY, my point is yesterday was not a record number of cases. When NY was testing only 20k people a day (for the reasons you said) they were getting 10-12k positives. If Ny would have tested 100k people back then, they would have a lot more than 15k cases. — PolitiTweet.org

There is no question Covid is surging in Florida but we do need some perspective on the often quoted "record" daily cases in Florida When NY's cases were surging in April, NY tested about 20k people per day. Florida tested 100k people yesterday - that's a five fold increase. — PolitiTweet.org

Amid soaring suicide, drug and alcohol deaths from the pandemic-spawned social and economic collapse, treatment centers go underfunded. The next aid bill needs to address addiction treatment funding as part of covid healthcare funding. https://t.co/zalytEVx49 — PolitiTweet.org

At the beautiful Delaware beaches & everyone is wearing a mask AND doing normal things: going to the beach, boardwalk, restaurants etc We are a freedom loving country & a free market economy - requiring people to wear masks during a pandemic does NOT undermine those freedoms. — PolitiTweet.org

NY travel quarantine order requires visitors from 20 states, including Delaware to quarantine. Delaware had 120 new cases and 0 deaths yesterday. Who makes up these rules? https://t.co/FjIzJZcDLW — PolitiTweet.org

This "endeavor" would be more productive if he toured the bars instead of the beaches. I'm not sure of the exact math, but I bet your chance of getting covid at a crowded inside bar where everyone is screaming is 100x greater than at an outside beach. https://t.co/9zk5FKlELQ — PolitiTweet.org

PPP shaming is counterproductive & contributes to the narrative that the gov't should do nothing It was an emergency program - the point of it was to get money to businesses so that they didn’t lay off worker or bring them back. https://t.co/yqKjhNPS8M — PolitiTweet.org

This is a simple problem to solve Every seat is attached to a name Every name is attached to a credit card When people buy tickets have them agree to wear a mask If they don't wear a mask fine them $1,000 on their credit card - they will wear masks! https://t.co/cNwaVftp3t — PolitiTweet.org

It is amazing what people will do to pursue political power. Senator Loeffler turning her back on the WNBA players and their desire to support the Black Lives Matter movement is really sad. https://t.co/SoAus02twy — PolitiTweet.org

@a_Tatge I don't disagree and I'm sure the American Academy of Pediatrics factored that in to thier recommendation (they are the leading scientific/medical organization for kids health). It's a really tough balance of 2 bad options - keep kids home vs reopen under these conditions — PolitiTweet.org

@ephmen @PattyMurray @realDonaldTrump I agree with her sentiments entirely- she is saying Trump should provide more money - which I agree with. It doesn't really comment on the reopening decision unless you interpret that to mean "if trump doesn't provide more money than schools should no reopen." — PolitiTweet.org

@ephmen As I said I would give more money to schools from the federal government if it were up to me. But the option of keeping schools closed is just so damaging to kids - particularly low income kids - if you listen to the experts on kids health and well being — PolitiTweet.org

@ephmen Public school funding is highly decentralized with 90% of public schools funding coming from state and local governments. I would like to see the Feds provide more money to help schools but absent that they will have to work with local governments. There is no other option. — PolitiTweet.org

Schools reopening should not be about politics as Trump is trying to make it Most experts on kids health believe it is the best interest of kids to reopen schools in the fall Schools should develop their own plans to reopen that makes the environment safe for kids & teachers — PolitiTweet.org

There are reasons to be optimistic about a vaccine when you look at the extraordinary number of promising candidates on this NYT Vaccine tracker. The collaboration between the Pharma industry, non profit medical centers and governments is inspiring. https://t.co/tXYaYeoRIb — PolitiTweet.org

According to TX health dept, TX has the same data issues as FL (counting a person testing positive again as a new case). TX/FL have inflated cases & inflated positive %, (people retest often once they test positive) Fed govt failed to create a system for consistent data. — PolitiTweet.org

@beammath @Brasilmagic TFA grads that finished program probably wont drop out like new recruits We have to make tough choices & innovate. Better not to have a pandemic & school start normal but that is not our choice; the choice is hurt kids by not going to school or go to school in a not ideal way — PolitiTweet.org

An example of how bad covid data is: Florida Department of Health includes coronavirus re-tests in statewide testing totals. If you get tested multiple times and get 4 positive tests it looks like 4 new cases. https://t.co/77k3nzXrnE — PolitiTweet.org

@beammath @Brasilmagic No, I didn't say that at all. I'm thinking teachers who don't feel comfortable doing distance learning, those that do feel comfortable returning to class, and people with teaching experince that are not teaching now (maybe in admin etc) being asked to go into the clasrooom. — PolitiTweet.org

@ChrisForTN1 That our ability to make informed predictions as to where Covid is headed is nonsense because we don't have consistent data and we haven't been applying consistent treatments. All we can do is mitigate (masks, social distance, close bars, etc) until we have a vaccine. — PolitiTweet.org

@beammath @Brasilmagic But that is their only job - to recommend what's best for kids. Schools absolutely need to look out for teachers by making it optional for them and then working around with flexible schedules and substitutes to make it work based on participation rates. — PolitiTweet.org

Data on Covid is becoming so inconsistent that its hard to draw conclusions - "junk in, junk out" You can't compared early NY data to now b/c treatment has changed, younger people now getting it, much more testing now etc - all makes trends on infection/fatality rates impossible — PolitiTweet.org
