Its terrible that ageism - discriminating against people because of age - is openly tolerated. Ageism has harmful psychological impacts on seniors, which results in physical decline & impacts society as a whole as the views of older Americans are dismissed https://t.co/qCnb6Fjfur — PolitiTweet.org

Are there no new ideas or do people of influence dismiss new ideas before they even hear them? Last year I proposed paying people to get vaccinated as a "vaccine stimulus." It is clear to me it would have accelerated vaccination rates. It was immediately dismissed by pundits... — PolitiTweet.org

The answer, of course, is don't cover his obsessively (even if it means lower ratings/fewer clicks). In 2016 the media gave Trump an extraordinary amount of free media. If he runs give him no more time than any other candidate (the old "equal time" rule) https://t.co/guV7ICw6ik — PolitiTweet.org

@alexnazaryan Check out Con Edison's steam system that heats thousands of NYC buildings - there is nothing like it in the world. Similar to its wooden water tower system, which is still used by thousands of buildings. NYC largely sits on old, but still functioning, smartly designed systems — PolitiTweet.org

@alexnazaryan These things remind us both how clever people were & that the world changes! I bet the pipe is still there as likely little reason to disturb the sidewalk beneath. As a kid we had a 2 family house in north Jersey and it still had the old coal chute from the sidewalk to basement. — PolitiTweet.org

@alexnazaryan We know what it is - a cap that leads to filler pipe that leads to tank for home furnace or street lights - but it represents how energy sources can change. We've gone from wood, coal or oil @ home furnaces to grid electricity, 1st powered by fossils soons to be all renewables!!! — PolitiTweet.org

@palmfronda I compare them b/c they are both deaths of addiction - Isn't that iobvious? And the point is we have an addiction crisis in the US and it's not covered by the media. It's a tweet, it's not a 10,000 word New England Journal of Medicine Article on various types of addiction. — PolitiTweet.org

@palmfronda Disagree. They are both based on an addiction crisis, which IMO the US has. Addiction presents different ways but has many of the same causes and public health failures contribute to alll forms of addiction. Further, many people addicted to one substance migrate to another etc. — PolitiTweet.org

@palmfronda The "take" was (1) how horrific these numbers are (if it's 90k or 93k, which is source dependent) + 95k from alcohol AND (2) that it doesn't get enough attention. Are you saying you just don't agree with both (1) and (2) or is it (1) or (2) individually you don't agree with? — PolitiTweet.org

In 2020: 95,000 Americans died from excessive alcohol abuse 90,000 Americans died from a drug overdose We have a massive addiction crisis in this country that is even greater than the horrific opioid crisis and it doesn't get nearly the coverage it deserves. — PolitiTweet.org

If you want to support a candidate, go to their website and give online. Also, be VERY wary of PACs and other quasi scams being set up to enrich the organizers with very little money going up the candidate. Give to candidates & parties & avoid PACs! https://t.co/TOnGAW0RSS — PolitiTweet.org

Renominating Powell was a great decision When covid crippled the economy we could have easily had a major banking crisis but the Fed smartly acted and made liquidity available to banks and gave them flexibility to restructure covid impacted loans https://t.co/EOn4AbQkFu — PolitiTweet.org

Another good decision by the President. Chair Powell has been a steady hand across the pandemic. His leadership helped ensure that we didn't have a banking crisis on top of a pandemic induced economic crisis, which is an under appreciated achievement. https://t.co/Brl6LRRpwL — PolitiTweet.org
