Good points by Stephen Biddle on lessons from Ukraine, "this in turn casts doubt on the advisability of redesigning modern militaries around an assumption that new technology has made effective offensive maneuver either impossible or available on demand." https://t.co/Yn46BDZmn0 https://t.co/UphIkOtCvq — PolitiTweet.org

Rob Lee @RALee85
@shashj Well Russia had very few UAVs in 2008 and much fewer in 2014. I think the explosion of cheaper commercial UAVs is a critical difference in this war compared to previous ones. I don't remember many, if any, DJI UAVs being used in Karabakh. — PolitiTweet.org

He also suggests that Russia did not have enough trained artillery crews when the war began and that their performance with conventional artillery rounds in Syria wasn't great. In contrast, he says Armenian artillery crews were still very effective with older systems. 2/ — PolitiTweet.org

Alexander Kharchenko says that the war in Syria saved the Krasnopol PGM round when the Orlan-30 was developed to laze targets for it. He says Russia did not have enough Orlan UAVs for the war, and they didn't use Krasnopols without them. https://t.co/g318C2ZiOt https://t.co/A7N1xarCMK — PolitiTweet.org
