@Graphviz @curt7s How about having graphviz output a TikZ-compatible (La)TeX files? ISTM graphviz's main strength is layouting (even if currently lacks some of these node-pinning capabilities), while TikZ excels at producing nice (paper-friendly) vector graphics? — PolitiTweet.org
Joanna Rutkowska @rootkovska
@Graphviz So far been using graphviz and been loving it, so big thanks for making it! Only recently started feeling the need for something better suited for more complex graphs. Perhaps there is a way to use graphviz layout engines, e.g. sfdp, with TikZ? — PolitiTweet.org

@csirac2 @Sergipy @Gephi I forgot to mention that I'm _not_ looking for a GUI/interactive tool. It must be scriptable. I might e.g. want to put it in a docker _somewhere_ and have it layout and draw an output PDF every morning, say, and save the result somewhere, where I tell it where. No service-based. — PolitiTweet.org
Joanna Rutkowska @rootkovska
@Graphviz Then there are really tiny yet important aesthetics, like e.g. printing edge labels along the edge lines. Or using CSS-like styling. I might want to have more than one style sheet: one for B&W "printouts" on (e)paper and whole another for consumption via color screen devices. — PolitiTweet.org
Joanna Rutkowska @rootkovska
@Graphviz I love automation & scripting too :) Regarding control: For some graphs I'd like to somehow pin their "core structures" so they always appear ~same place/orientation. This is to ease comprehension of the same graph which might be getting small changes e.g. each week. — PolitiTweet.org

@halvarflake Have you ever tried/considered TikZ/PGF? https://t.co/Bty8kUl9SP Seems very powerful, not just for graph rendering, but any kind of diagraming/vector graphics. A "LaTeX/Markdown for graphics" in a way. And GPL... :) — PolitiTweet.org

I have a number of fairly complex graphs (thousands of nodes), which I generate/process via python & networkx. I've been using graphviz to do visualization, but I need more fine control of the output. Seems like TikZ/PGF is the solution, but perhaps I should also look at other? — PolitiTweet.org
