Turns out Trump also bragged about his El Paso crowd in during a meeting with law enforcement. He told Chief Greg Allen, out of the blue, "You know, I just left, we made a speech here about three months ago. And we could've sold it out four times." https://t.co/sUndqwoIeI — PolitiTweet.org

Here's the Biden quote from tonight. He was talking about international reaction to Trump's comments on the Charlottesville white supremacist rallies. He caught himself before fully saying "Thatcher," saying "excuse me," but didn't replace it with another name. https://t.co/wqbFgITNiy — PolitiTweet.org

@havethehabit Yeah, I hear you. I use "false claim" instead of "falsehood" because I think "falsehood" is a weird jargon word and "false claim" is a more plain-language explanation of what we're saying. But for sure. — PolitiTweet.org
Daniel Dale @ddale8
@havethehabit It's subjective. In some cases, like when he makes up a phone call, it's a clear lie. In others, it's hard to tell. I'm more generous in terminology when it comes to little numerical errors, slight deviations from the truth, or complicated policy issues. — PolitiTweet.org

Meeting the medical staff at an El Paso hospital yesterday, Trump started talking about...crowd sizes. As dishonestly as usual. He wildly inflated the size of his rally in the city six months ago, wildly deflated the size of Beto O’Rourke’s crowd at a competing event. — PolitiTweet.org

Last thought: Trump succeeds, to the limited extent his dishonesty succeeds, because he outlasts most media outlets. Perhaps (perhaps) a claim will be called out the first time or two; he’ll say it 125 times, and at least the final 123 will go unchallenged. — PolitiTweet.org
Daniel Dale @ddale8
There are good reasons not to use “lie” every time — I do a list of “false claims” because a solid chunk of them seem confused or uninformed rather than deliberate. But “the word lie is too powerful to use every time someone lies” is a weird one. — PolitiTweet.org
Daniel Dale @ddale8
This argument has always been so strange, that “lie” can only be used very infrequently because of its “power.” We’re in the accuracy business. If someone commits 1,000 crimes, we don’t call two of them “crimes” and the other 998 “non-legal activities.” https://t.co/7ISAIk1Ofo https://t.co/7DT5Hcvoib — PolitiTweet.org

Trump has made at least four extremely false claims about sentences given to big-time drug traffickers. In March 2018, he said some “won’t even get jail” for killing “2,000 people” or “5,000 people.” — PolitiTweet.org
