@Ham32315594 @oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex @ReaganWorld Please read NYT, 9/30/17 entitled "Latin Mass Thrives in Southeastern Nigeria." The growing popularity of TLM was confirmed to me by Cardinal Arinse, after saying NO Mass at St. Matthews--w. SW (Smarter Wife) as pontifical lector. — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex Which had nothing to do w. the Mass & everything to do w. whether the order cld ordain bishops--which, of course, it cld. not. JPII announced this in Eclesia Dei, in which he also said TLM "should be said & encouraged." — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex @ReaganWorld No, quite the opposite. Like JPII, Benedict clarified what V2's interpretation left unclear: that TLM was never abrogated or "forbidden" but should be said & encouraged. Yrs. of dispute wld've been avoided if Paul VI simply said:"If you like the Mass you have, you can keep it." — PolitiTweet.org

@oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Ham32315594 @Pontifex @ReaganWorld One more thing: BXVI recognized we are a bifurcated Church & probably knew people denied TLM will view it on line, or drive a distance to attend. For trying to undo the greatest work of his predecessor, @Pontifex will have to seek forgiveness from a higher authority . — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex @ReaganWorld Which was regression. It was up to priests, which brought it closer to parish. And TLM grew in last 8 yrs, bringing in people who left Church or young people who loved the Mass & felt the Real Presence. — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex No, This is the Fraternity of St. Peter. which trains priests in TLM. So does SSPX, but they are schismatic. JPII & BXVI were gradually bringing them back. — PolitiTweet.org

If you can't sympathize w. me, please think of children who are growing knowing only TLM,& people who converted expecting Mass to be semper edem (always the same)--Russell Kirk, Graham Green, Loretta Young.....@ReaganWorld — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex There are plenty of seminaries left to train priests in NO. But the Priestly Order of St. Peter (whose pin I am wearing) & others exist for the needs of THE TLM community. And while parishes were allowed to HAVE TLM Masses, it was always at odd hour & advertising was banned — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex Who is this community? I never was upset at the NO community until @Pontifex moved against TLM. Benedict understood how we felt & showed us respect. What Vatican shld've said in 1970 when it offered NO is "If you like the Mass you have, you can keep it." — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex Any cause has its extremists & I'm sorry you experienced this--or heard NO worshippers are going to hell. Looney! But I also say of we can worship thru TLM--which makes me feel closer to God--& evangelize & advertise the Mass, we're fine. Benedict understood this. — PolitiTweet.org

@oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Ham32315594 @Pontifex I never knew any TLM Catholic who used that term & don't believe I read it until interview w. @Pontifex. Perhaps I did way back, but if you read St. Peter newsletter, they always say "TLM" to describe its Masses. (Watch me on Newsmax TV, you'll see my pin). — PolitiTweet.org

One more thing: many NO adherents left Church over pedophile priest scandal, but I never met a TLM Catholic who left Church. When I asked historian @DPietrusza how Catholicism wld be different w'out Vatican II, he replied: "More people wld be going to Mass." — PolitiTweet.org

@oconnellap @MichaelMcGough3 @Ham32315594 @Pontifex By vetus ordo,if you mean the term @Pontifex used for "TLM" in his recent interview.I respectfully disagree: Fraternity of St. Peter has turned out one priest per month since it was founded & they are trained exclusively in TLM.(am wearing their pin). — PolitiTweet.org

@MichaelMcGough3 @Ham32315594 @Pontifex How, I wonder is this "rejection" manifested--by someone writing letters to editor or fulminating in a bar after work? No one was calling for a schism & were so thankful for Ecclesiastical Dei & SonomPontificum. If anyone has created a division, it is @Pontifex. — PolitiTweet.org

@MichaelMcGough3 @Ham32315594 @Pontifex You must remember--Vatican II only said Masses COULD be said in the vernacular & 1965 Missal (hard to find now) is a translation of TLM Mass into English or other languages. It wasn't until 1970 that the Mass of Paul VI came down & bishops said (wrongly) it was abrogated. — PolitiTweet.org

@MichaelMcGough3 @Ham32315594 @Pontifex That's my personal opinion, but I wldn't impose it on other Catholics & never did-notably my late Mom & Dad, who loved vernacular Mass. But I felt JP II& BXVI recognized diversity in Church & growing attachment to TLM. If anything is divisive, it is trying to take it from us. — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex The community was 1% 8 yrs ago, when Benedict issued SonomPontificum. Many had left Church or went to Masses provided by SSPX. Thanks to Benedict, it became easier to have TLM & the ranks grew & were growing--mostly among younger people who never knew TLM or others who returned. — PolitiTweet.org

@Ham32315594 @MichaelMcGough3 @Pontifex And the way to win them over is to make it harder for them to worship--not engage them? Benedict had it right, & their ranks grew, especially among the young. As for me, I'm personally opposed to Vatican II, but I certsinly wldn't impose my views on other Catholics. — PolitiTweet.org
