@kaschuta (7/7) and of course, i found it a lot easier to (safely) cosleep while nursing for the usual reasons. another ymmv thing. the greatest news is however it all works out, you have a beautiful boy who loves you and whom you love so much, and that alone leads to flourishing. :) — PolitiTweet.org
Elizabeth Bruenig @ebruenig
@kaschuta (6/x) when i was bumping my supply to leave milk in the fridge, though, these are the things i used to build up a nice cushion. they really worked for me! ymmv of course, but i was kinda surprised by how effective they were. some days i put away 16-20oz *while nursing.* https://t.co/AQF9xzWMMg — PolitiTweet.org

@kaschuta (5/x) which is to say: i think you've just gotta do what seems to work best for you individually and your baby individually. your next baby may very well be different! it's not just a 'you' thing, babies are people. they've got their own stuff they come into the world with. :) — PolitiTweet.org

@kaschuta (4/x) also: some babies like nursing more than others! my first girl liked bottlefeeding because it's a lot faster and she is and always has been a go-go-go kinda kid. my second girl nursed for 18 months and would still nurse if i let her. she's patient and loves the cuddles. — PolitiTweet.org

@kaschuta (3/x) if you're not getting enough to leave a bunch of milk in the fridge, i wouldn't worry about mixing in formula. adding supplemental formula doesn't negate the benefits of breastfeeding, emotional or physiological. and it can ease some of the pressure if you have supply probs — PolitiTweet.org

@kaschuta (2/x) sleep is so paramount to everything else, i'd highly recommend using some kind of technique like that to get yourself some good, uninterrupted sleep. we had no trouble with nipple confusion and the older baby didn't even mid cold milk right from the fridge! — PolitiTweet.org
Elizabeth Bruenig @ebruenig
@kaschuta (1/x) i nursed my first girl exclusively for 6mo only. i would pump during the day and put a bottle of milk or two in the fridge, and my husband or mom would take the night feedings, then bring her to me for morning feeds. that was GREAT in terms of getting some rest. — PolitiTweet.org

Elizabeth Bruenig @ebruenig
@powellnyt @NewYorker many such cases, historically. i think the really key thing is the passivity with which these are all written -- 'is it coming,' 'will it happen', etc. i want to ask: are you saying "will i eventually do political violence? should i?" or are you expressing a desire or what — PolitiTweet.org
Elizabeth Bruenig @ebruenig
@powellnyt @NewYorker i think when you combine the intense emotions people (esp politically engaged people, like writers and academics) have about their political opponents with their equally intense feelings of impotence in the face of market/political forces, you get these fantasies of violence — PolitiTweet.org
