Yes, the inclination angle of the observer with respect to the accretion disk affects the shape of the image. The luminosity asymmetry (due to the Doppler shift) explains why the image constructed yesterday isn’t, in fact, a perfect circle, but tilted and thicker on the edge. — PolitiTweet.org
