*Of course, this wasn't quite true. Artists, writers, etc. that turned out propagandistic drivel led cushy lives, with state apartments, dachas & other privileges. Those that had any independent thought were banned from publishing or exhibiting or performing and reduced to penury — PolitiTweet.org
