one thing not mentioned is the scourge of companies refusing to provide any comment on record and only sharing info "on background" and unattributable. Apple led the way on this and many other co's are following suit. astute readers have seen @reckless rail against it recently — PolitiTweet.org

@RyneHager @reckless every co likes to define it differently, but in general, a company telling you something that you can't say they told you when you cover it isn't a great setup for the reporter or audience. like we're all just supposed to *know* these specific details of new products or services? — PolitiTweet.org
