@MrCippy can find refurbs/second hand for under $200 fairly regularly I think I personally just prefer a soundbar, two HomePods only work with the Apple TV and no other inputs on your TV. I tried the FireTV + Echo Studio version of it for a while and ended up ditching — PolitiTweet.org

in the last 6 months, two of the large, high priced smart speakers on the market (Google Home Max & Apple HomePod) have been discontinued, leaving just the Echo Studio. (there are some smaller players like Marshall too) Sonos should put some voice assistant mics on the Five ASAP — PolitiTweet.org
