@alli_rico Agreed. I led push for a council to authorize staff to close streets months ago. But unlike SF and other major cities, mayors in SJ lack authority to direct City Manager or staff to do anything. That’s why we need to change the city charter. — PolitiTweet.org

@Th3Jareth Actually, I can’t. Unlike the mayors of other major US cities, I have no authority to direct staff to do anything. I take reform proposals to Council for approval.
