Rachmaninoff left Russia for the U.S. in 1917, following the Revolution. It wasn't easy; "I left behind my desire to compose: losing my country, I lost myself also." But he still crafted notable works. In 1931, he and others denounced the Soviet state, which reciprocated in part. — PolitiTweet.org
