@ChaseMadar I think saying it is "the reason" is not accurate. He and BDB really screwed up in the crucial first two weeks, but...basically so did everyone. The first states to get the European variant all got annihilated, independent of policy/leadership at the local level. — PolitiTweet.org

@ChaseMadar Yes, but the Pacific northwest got a different, less transmissible variant (came directly from China, rather than via Europe where it had mutated), which accounts for a significant degree of the divergence between east and west coast in the first wave. — PolitiTweet.org
