That thing is, the American empire can't function as an overt power operator. It lacks legitimacy as such. It must engage in wars to "spread democracy" or save children in incubators etc. "Coming clean" is a dangerous, maybe desperate game, and likely the sign of a loss of power. — PolitiTweet.org
