600 poor black men were enrolled in a gov't study observing untreated syphilis in 1932. These men were promised free medical care and told the study was only going to last six months - it lasted 40 yrs. In 1947, an antibiotic was discovered but the men were never told until 1972 — PolitiTweet.org
