There are still advantages to keeping the Senate 50-50 as opposed to 51-49, not least being maximizing Manchin's leverage over Dems (and there's a non-zero percent chance he pulls a Jim Jeffords, though I think it's unlikely). But I'm not sure that will move normal voters. — PolitiTweet.org

You'd have to go back to 1992, when Republican Paul Coverdell came back and won his runoff against Wyche Fowler after Clinton had won the state and Democrats had a fairly large Senate majority. But the conservative backlash that would be evident in 1994 was already starting. — PolitiTweet.org
