the obvious rebuttal to this is that candidates like Klobuchar or Booker have put in the work campaigning in Iowa that will pay off when voters start to get more serious in the coming months. That theory might be right! — PolitiTweet.org

I.e. Buttigieg's numbers are a little higher in Iowa than they are nationally, but you'd expect that because PB does better with white voters and that's a very white state. Point is he does as well with white Iowa voters as he does with white voters anywhere else — PolitiTweet.org

But, idk, the very distinct, very decisive trend in politics is everything is more and more national and less and less local anyway, tl;dr: national narratives have had much more impact on Iowa voters' than on-the-ground campaigning there and I'm not sure that changes much — PolitiTweet.org
