@wrmkay Did Victorians ever paint directly on to plaster walls? In my Mum’s flat there are no layers of paper, sadly. Each decorator stripped back to bare plaster. That’s unpainted apart from dado varnish which may have seeped through. By contrast woodwork & cornicing thick with paint. — PolitiTweet.org

@wrmkay Ah I see! So typical for Georgians to paint plaster? In my house I had wallpaper faux panelling covering original panelling. I preserved wallpaper in sections to restored & frame. I painted the plaster. I painted all the woodwork too without sanding to preserve the paint layers. — PolitiTweet.org
