A short lockdown might be right thing to do but unless you prepare the ground in advance ("we will lift these restrictions come what may/when R falls below 1 etc regardless of death numbers") hard to see how a short lockdown doesn't become an accidental indefinite one. — PolitiTweet.org

I could ask the same question of SAGE. And it is a genuine question not being snarky - I can see case for a short lockdown or even a longer lockdown. But if we're going to do the latter, it should be because that's our chosen strategy, not because we got there by accident. — PolitiTweet.org
