To be clear, it's NOT against the law to earn frequent flyer miles traveling on the city dime. But doing so means gaining a personal financial benefit from taxpayer funded travel, unless those miles were to be used to offset travel costs. That does not appear to have happened. — PolitiTweet.org

Based on the records they've given us, we've identified $21,745.29 worth of tickets on United, American and Delta where a FF account appears to have been given to the travel agency. Of course, the mayor could have added it after the flights were booked in the other cases. — PolitiTweet.org
