I was wondering how a statue of Catherine the Great could have survived in Odesa under Soviet rule. Turns out - it didn't. The statue erected in 1900 was destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1920. The statue removed last night was a replica cast in 2007. — PolitiTweet.org
