Of course the risk China runs if they limit rare earth availability is that industries will adapt and find other materials and processes to achieve the same result - thus killing China's own industry. They don't want to risk letting the world know we don't need them. — PolitiTweet.org

Between the 60's and 80's the majority of rare earth production was done not in China, but in the USA at the Mountain Pass Mine in CA. This has already been re-opened and could ramp up production immediately in case of a Chinese embargo. — PolitiTweet.org
