The difference now - explaining why numbers are now higher than 2019 - is mostly that huge numbers of migrants are crossing that cannot be removed. Mexico will not take back migrants from Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti or Nicaragua. Those counties won’t take them back either. — PolitiTweet.org

Crossings at the border spiked in 2019 under Trump. They only came down because of the pandemic. When the virus abated, the numbers predictably returned to 2019 levels. This doesn’t seem to be a political problem. Numbers were high under R and D Presidents. — PolitiTweet.org
