looks like he had ~1/2 cup of butter, i.e., 1 stick, 8 tablespoons, 4oz. it appears he melted it (raising the question: why use softened in particular...? you can melt cold butter and leave the soft for toast!) and used about 1/4 cup total, which, for pb cookies, checks out — PolitiTweet.org
