@blograham @roddreher I think the religious analogy you use is very apt, but doesn't that analogy underscore the ritualistic nature of what's happening? I agree that "denuanciation" doesn't quite capture it, insofar as declaring oneself racist in this way is seen as a good rather than a bad thing — PolitiTweet.org
