The Fed earns nominal profits on the interest from the bond portfolio it owns. The Fed bought those bond from banks with created reserves (Fed money). Normally those "profits" from bonds go to the US Treasury. But a huge portion is now going to banks via Reverse Repos. — PolitiTweet.org
