All-party primaries can be all over the place, too. I remember some punditry about how Dems looks bad in the targeted California 2018 seats bc Rs got more votes in the primary. Then Ds flipped all the targets. Lots of voters just skip confusing primaries. (See NYC mayoral races) — PolitiTweet.org

My take here is that 1) Texas Dems fumbled by not doing anything to clear the field and turn out votes, and 2) with 2017-level enthusiasm they’d have made runoff, but 3) using an all-party primary to predict the midterms is risky. — PolitiTweet.org
