All-party primaries can be all over the place, too. I remember some punditry about how Dems looks bad in the targeted California 2018 seats bc Rs got more votes in the primary. Then Ds flipped all the targets. Lots of voters just skip confusing primaries. (See NYC mayoral races) — PolitiTweet.org
