I recently watched Reconstruction -- America after the Civil War with @HenryLouisGates. It was a period of pervasive white nationalist violence. The violent mobs of that era were willing to kill to sustain the idea that our country was theirs alone. Lots of lessons for today. — PolitiTweet.org
