Critics of big money warned of this slippery slope when a provision* allowing parties to raise huge new pools of $ was slipped into a year-end spending bill in 2014. * The provision was crafted by Dem lawyer @marceelias on behalf of his client Harry Reid. https://t.co/M6r7b37B48 — PolitiTweet.org

As I noted at the time: while the increased limits stand to benefit both parties, they open Dems to charges of hypocrisy, since they made reducing the role of Big Money a top 2014 campaign issue. Some Dems — notably OBAMA & PELOSI — objected to the provision for similar reasons. — PolitiTweet.org
